Description

An antiviral agent. Is a non-nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor of HIV-1. Directly binds to and blocks the reverse transcriptase activity of RNA-dependent and DNA-dependent polymerase, causing disruption of the catalytic site of the enzyme.

Mechanism of action is not competing with nevirapine or nucleoside triphosphates matrix does not inhibit the reverse transcriptase and HIV-2 DNA polymerase (α, β, γ or δ) human.

In combination with AZT / ddI reduces the amount of virus in serum and increasing the number of CD4 + cells.
