Pharmacodynamics

Endogenous androgens secreted by the testes (mainly testosterone) and their main metabolite dihydrotestosterone responsible for the development of external and internal genital organs and for maintaining secondary sex characteristics (stimulating hair growth, deepening of the voice, the development of the libido); for the overall impact on the anabolism of proteins; for the development of the skeletal muscles and the distribution of subcutaneous fat; for reducing the excretion of nitrogen, sodium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and water. Testosterone does not cause testicular development: it reduces the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins.
Effects of testosterone on some target organs is manifested after peripheral conversion of testosterone to estradiol, which then binds to the estrogen receptor in the nuclei of target cells (such as the pituitary, adipose tissue, brain, bone, and testicular Leydig cells).

Indications for use

Replacement therapy with testosterone deficiency.

Dosing and Administration

The recommended dose of 5 grams of gel (i.e. 50 mg of testosterone), used 1 time per day at about the same time, preferably in the morning. Individual daily dose may be adjusted by the physician according to the clinical and laboratory data for patients but does not exceed 10 g of gel per day. Correction mode should be performed in steps of 2.5 g of gel per day.
The gel is applied to clean, dry, intact skin shoulders, arms and / or abdomen. After opening the bag should be immediately put on your skin and all of its contents spread a thin layer. Not necessarily rub it into the skin. Let it dry for at least 3-5 minutes before dressing. After applying the gel, wash your hands with soap and water.
Do not apply the gel to the genital area, because the high ethanol content in the preparation may cause local irritation.
Constant concentration of testosterone in plasma is approximately on the second day of treatment AndroGel. For adjustment of the dosage necessary to determine the concentration of testosterone in serum testosterone in the morning before application of the drug from the third day after treatment (within one week). The dosage can be reduced if the content of testosterone in the plasma was increased. If low concentrations, the dose can be increased, but not more than 10 g of gel per day.
